9.31 namemapping performance is poor

Hi

In our testsuite we have a large namemapping file. When I want to access an alias it takes about 5 times as long in 9.31 than in 9.20 until the alias is shown.

If I write "Call Aliases.Sys.OurAUT. "  then it takes a couple of seconds to show the available aliases in 9.20, and in 9.31 it's about 10 seconds. And it is not just for the first access of aliases, it's everytime I access the aliases, like the aliases tree is not cached.

Is there a work-a-round for this? Will this be adressed in TC10? (We are thinking about downgrading to 9.20 again, due to this issue)

  • Hi Lars,

What Store Code Completion information are you using? If you keep full information about objects, some delays are possible. Please refer to the "Name Mapping Editor" article for more information.

  • Hi

Sorry for the late reply. In our project we use Store Full Data, and we have a very large namemapping file. Actually now the performance is better (not good, but better). So I guess some of the delay must be caused by processes outside TC.

  • Hi Lars,

Could you please check the size of the <Your TestComplete Project>\NameMapping\NameMapping.tcNM file?

BTW, we have released TestComplete 10 recently. You can request the trial to evaluate it.

  • Hi again

Our current namemapping file is just over 84 MB. We will definately look in to TC10 as soon as time permits :-)
