Your Test Run Is Limited to 5 Minutes

Has there been a recent change in the ReadyAPI license?  I used to run simple Load Tests for several hours but am getting this error now.  I have a ReadyAPI Test subscription.

Thanks, Carl

  • If you used to run “simple load tests for several hours” but now you get errors (or tests abort early / fail to simulate as expected), likely causes include:

    • Your license is still using the old model and now either cannot activate properly under the new SLM system → license check fails.
    • You hit the VUs maximum for your “Base” license or the maximum duration allowed. Under the Base (non-Performance) license you are limited (for example only 10 VUs simultaneously).
    • The error could reflect a runtime license check: the test runner might detect you’re using features reserved for Performance license (like distributed execution, long duration, high VUs) while your license only covers Base.
    • If you upgraded ReadyAPI recently, the license version compatibility may have changed (e.g., a file-based license no longer fully supported, or activation must now go through SLM).

    Check a few things:

    • Are you licensed as “Test”, or “Performance” (or a bundle)?
    • Is the license ID-based (SmartBear account) or file-based? If file-based, check if you’ve moved beyond version 3.61.0 and may need migration.

      Carlos,

Do you get the dialog I posted when you run a load test on a basic license?  Previously, I could run tests like the one below for >1hr.

Has there been a SmartBear change that limits the duration?

      Thanks, Carl

I still think it is a license issue.

What version of ReadyAPI are you using?

Is the license ID-based (SmartBear account) or file-based? If file-based, check if you’ve moved beyond version 3.61.0 and may need migration.
