XPathContainsAssertion for CDATA

Hi,
Is there a way to do an xpath assertion against the contents of a CDATA section that does not require a new Groovy Script for each assertion?
I am looking at creating a subclass of XPathContainsAssertion that will operate on a CDATA section. Is there a better way? How owuld I add my assertion to the required menu's?

    I am using SubmitListener.afterSubmit event for this and it appears it only works when I run the teststep and testcase that contains it.
    Without the target regex, when I run the testsuite it only works for the first testcase but not any after and same if I run it from project.
    With the target regex, it does not work at all from testsuite and project run buttons.
    It really needs to work from Project >TestSuites run button
