Windows NTLM Auth - worked in 4.0.1, not in 4.5.0

I am using SoapUI to help test .NET 4.0 WCF services. The services use https and windows auth. In SoapUI 4.0.1 I enter my username, password, and domain and I can call the service successfully. In SoapUI 4.5 I keep getting an "unauthorized" error. I am using the exact same SoapUI project files.
  • I just joined to mention that I have the exact same issue. I actually installed 4.0.1 and 4.5 on the same machine, open up the SAME project in both, one works the other doesnt. I have not checked the exact request/response with fiddler yet.
  • Hello,

We can confirm this issue and we are looking into this.

    Thanks for patience,

  • Hi,

I quick update - please make sure that the "Authenticate Preemptively" option in the Global HTTP Settings is *not* checked (NTLM won't work if it is...)

Let us know if that helps!

Turning off pre-emptive auth worked. I forgot about that setting since I hardly have to change the default settings. Maybe the default changed from false to true in 4.5?
  • Are there any news regarding [SOAPUI-3890]?

Is the bug in 4.5 that prevents testing authenticated wcf services with http and https still not fixed, or was this only a case of the "Authenticate Preemptively" setting?
  • Hi,

yes - as far as we know this was related to the Authenticate Preemptively setting - if you are still having troubles regardless of that setting let us know!

    Hi

    I am running soapuiPro 4.5.1.

I can't add WSDL to my project.

    Details on this post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14552

I have configured proxy settings in soapui and ensured Authenticate Preemptively is switched off.

    Any ideas?

    Many thanks

    Ben
