This is the method called for clearing the log: http://www.soapui.org/apidocs/com/eviware/soapui/impl/wsdl/loadtest/log/LoadTestLog.html#clear().
Also, have you looked at the LoadTest Options? There is for instance a setting called Max Assertions in Log that might be of interests.
