Do other Java based graphical (Swing) applications run normally on the machine? From your system properties it looks like you changed some of the memory settings, is this correct? Have you change anything else from the stock installation? How are you connected to the server? Via a monitor and keyboard/mouse hooked up directly to a server, or some remote desktop connection? Is any virtualization going on?
