import preferences saves to imported settings file

Hi.

Our organisation has a small team of developers who are trying to share soapui configuration data. We are trying to achieve this by sharing a baseline soapui-settings.xml file via CVS. After we've checked the file out of CVS, we are able to import the preferences into soapui via the File >> Import Preferences command. However, when we try to save the settings (via File >> Save Preferences) it overwrites the file from which we've imported the preferences rather than the user's default settings file. So, when we restart soapui, the default settings file is loaded and the preferences that were imported in the last session are ignored. Is this a bug? If not, is there any way to save the imported preferences to the default settings file?

I've attached the system properties and the log file; environment details follow:

build: soapUI Pro 3.6.1 Build dist-118-2010-10-18, Build Date 2010/10/18 15:21
jre: 1.6.0_21-b06
os: Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2 (32bit)

Cheers

David

  • Hi,

This is not a bug, it is how it works intentionally. Currently there is no way to save imported preferences to the default settings file through soapUI. Please post a "Feature request" to our forum regarding this and we'll consider it.

Thanks for the response. I had incorrectly assumed the import preferences feature enabled the sharing of settings. In what sort of scenario is the feature being used (where the imported settings are only valid for a session)?

    Cheers
