Do I need a feedback wire on a ramp generator?

I have a soapui runner being fed by a ramp up generator, and I also have a feedback wire going back into the top of the generator. It just occured to me that I probably don't need this as I'm assuming it's meant for when you use a generator for constant loads. Is this the case and would it have had any effect on my testing using a ramp up generator?
