Custom HTTP Runner POST question

I am trying to use the custom HTTP runner to POST data to a server encoded as ISO-8859-1 using the HTTP entity body: <message>...</message> - the server log shows that the body is missing so the body of the request is not even getting through to the server - anyone have any thoughts?
