Isn't the project under version control?
nmrao last friday we merged the Project but Since monday his work is unsaved.

Hmm..certain tools maintain local history. Not sure about ReadyAPI.
By the way, what does the log file shows when try to open?
Does it open in a browser?
May be tool unable to open the file. However, the file can be compared(working copy vs file in the versioning system) with version control tools (git / svn what ever you are using) . So, you can get the major portion of work .
