Creating a custom type

I am new to OpenAPI and I'm not seeing anything on Custom Type. ChatGPT led me astray for a bit on creating a custom property but I was hoping for a custom type that had it's own pattern and description. 

Is there a supported way to do this or are people just copy+pasting the type, pattern, and description everywhere?
