Need help about Data Driven Testing

Hello All,
I am Ram. New to this community. Can any one help me about data driven testing. By using Datasource step in soapui pro. I am using soap pro licenced version, but i was unable to use it properly. As of now iam just using text files for data driven testing,with some groovy script.

Now i would like to import data from an excel sheet ,sending values in to the requests finally looking to write all required values from the response into excel sheet.

I tried it many times but failed every time.
My client is asking for me to do that but i coudn't make it. I need to write test results in a good way in to excel sheet.
