Dragging Test Case properties into Test Steps

In soapUI 4.0.1 I was able to drag Test Case properties into the Test Step XML request at the required place(s).
However I recently upgraded to version 4.5.1 and now when I attempt to drag properties into the request the property value overwrites the entire request (leaving me with a blank request apart from property) Any ideas?
