I'm having this problem. I just got a license. I downloaded SOAPUI (which is a trial version) and when prompted, I browsed and chose my license file. As soon as I click OK, the message pops up. At this point, I'm unable to use my purchased version.

You will get this error when trying to install a Renewal License without having an existing commercial license installed - you will need to get hold of your original license (the one that you are renewing) and install it first (even if it has expired) and then install the renewal.

Yea, old issue for me. That is what I needed to do. I had to register my old one, and then go and update the new license. Worked like a charm. I consider this closed.
