Tracking time taken to write test cases

Is there a better way to track time in relation to the creation of test cases themselves, not just test cycles? 

Currently manually adding time to the time taken in test cycles.

I might have misunderstood but if you mean time taken to execute a test case there is a start/pause/end button in the test player.  It tracks how long each test case takes to complete.  Is that what you're asking for?

apologies, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I meant the time taken to write and create the individual test cases themselves not testing the test cases using the test player.
