How to configure timeout

I have been using Soapui for a while and I recall that I never configure the timeout value.

By timeout, I meant the time limit that the far-end server has to respond to the API request.

What is the default value?  How to configure this timeout?   Is this a global parameter or can this be configured per far-end server?

Please help.

Thanks.

    Hi,

There is an app wide timeout configuration setting in File-Preferences.  See HTTP sub menu and scroll down to Socket Timeout.

Personal preference, I have this set high (3 minutes) and then use SLA Assertion to flag poorly performing services.

      Thanks.
Just checked, Socket Timeout value is blank.   What is the default value?

        Hi,

I'm genuinely not sure what the default timeout is.  There might not even be one.  I've just checked my unconfigured SoapUI 5.6.0 and there isn't one.

        No value indicates no timeout.

I suppose it should be however long you're willing to wait for a response before giving up.
