1) I'm not quite sure what you are asking here, but soapUI provides load testing using different strategies (more info in the
userguide). I didn't quite get what you wanted to compare this to though, could you elaborate this?
2) Sure raw text (text/plain) is fine to use as a data format, given that your data is pretty simple. Another lightweight approach could be using
JSON, which provides some structure without much overhead, and is pretty popular (and thus has a lot of library support). soapUI provides testing capabilities for JSON as well.
