Restarting a test case

Hi,

I'm using soapUI 2.5 beta1 (2008/09/26).

I have a test case with several steps that processes files from a folder.
I have created a groovy script step that loops to the begin of the test case for each file in the specified folder.

But if any step fail, the test case stop and the whole folder is not processed.
So I have written this in the TearDown script window of the test case:

if (new String(""+testRunner.getStatus())=="FINISHED") {
 com.eviware.soapui.support.UISupport.showInfoMessage("List of tests performed successfully (applReqID's)\n" + context.getProperty("results"));
} else {
 testRunner.testCase.getTestStepByName("Init").run(testRunner, context);
}


This works correctly but only the step "Init" is performed and not next steps ..
So I want to use 
testRunner.gotoStepByName("Init");
but it doesn't works for tear down script ...

What's the solution ?

    Hi!

    There is an "Abort on Error" setting in the TestCase Options dialog that you can uncheck to make the TestCase continue even if a teststep fails.. is that enough for you?

    Thanks for you quick answer :) but it is not exactly what I want ..
    If I uncheck this option, all test steps after a failed step are executed.

    But what I need is if a step fail the test case stops and the tear down script move the testRunner to a specific step and execute steps following this step.

    For example:

    Init step ==> OK
    Step 1    ==> OK
    Step 2    ==> OK
    Step 3    ==> Fail
    Step 4    ==> Don't run
    Step 5    ==> Don't run
    Tear down script ==> Return to init step to process next file

    Hi,

    ok.. sorry for misunderstanding.. try creating a script step after this one that checks if the previous step failed and in that case loops back as you did in the tearDown script. You can check the status of the TestStepResult object created for the previous step which is available in the testRunner.results array.. ie something like..

    if( testRunner.results[testRunner.results.length-1].status = TestRunStatus.FAILED )
      testRunner.gotoStepByName( ... )

    The problem is that in the example I gave the step 3 fails.
    But in my real case any step can fails so I cannot create one step which verify the status of the previous for each step ...

    Hi,

    ok.. in that case you would probably need to create a TestRunListener Listener extension that handles the afterStep event and checks the step status and acts accordingly. Check out http://www.soapui.org/architecture/extensions.html on how to create extensions, let me know if you need help forward.

    Hum, I was affraid of using this solution because this complicate the reading of a test case logic.

    But if it is the only solution,  I will use it

    ok,

    we'll move listener-creation/mgmt into the tool itself eventually, I guess an alternative is to have the same script step after each request, which would make things more readable.

    I've created a simple listener but when I remove the commented line, SoapUI doesn't start ...

    And with the commented line it start but the dos prompt shows this "Error initializing Listener: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: soapui.testStep.TestStepListener".

    What's the problem ?

    Hi!

    Have you packaged this in a jar which has been put in the bin\ext folder? Or is this in a .groovy file in your script library (in the corresponding script\soapui\testStep folder)?

    Yes I've packaged it into a jar file in the correct folder.
    When I see the content of my jar file it contains:

    META-INF
    |
    ---- MANIFEST.MF
    soapui
    |
    ---- testStep
          |
            ---- TestStepListener.class

    And what's the error for my commented line ?
