I've reproduced your issue with Tomcat 7. I usually use Jetty and there is no issue with Jetty.
It seems the problem comes from the web.xml http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1105 ... ps-context
I've tested the proposed modification of the url-pattern but it fails
about the endpoint, check this post viewtopic.php?t=2702
but i am not sure it will help
