How can I check how many times a test step has ran?

Does anyone know how to count how many times a step has ran? I want to run a test step multiple times and check the response as it is asynchronous but I don't want to wait forever. I want to use a ...

If you like to use groovy step then it would be easy to control the number of times particular step to be run using any looping technique say for loop. You may use runTestStepByName method
