Error when tying to save project...please help!

Hi All,

I am new to the forum and fairly new to soapUI. I'm working on creating a test suite and we're having to use version 4.0.0 in order to get our things to work successfully.

I keep getting an error failing to save the project. I've attempted to uninstall and re-install a couple times now with no success. Upon the initial installation as long as the program is open I can save all day long, but once I exit soapUI and re-open it will throw the message below every time.

Exact Message:

"Failed to save project [project name]:java.io.IOException: Access is denied" - then when i click ok I get the message 2 more times.

Can someone help me get this resolved?

Thanks in advance!

Access is denied, you are trying to save the project where you don't have permission.

Haha....awesome! You're exactly right. As soon as you said it I knew the problem. For some reason I stuck the .xml project under my c:/ and to save there I have to enter my credentials each time, so when I try saving via soapUI it would never prompt me to enter my credentials and give the error.

I've relocated (to more logical location) and it seems to be working just fine now. The little things that we overlook sometimes!

Thanks Martin, I appreciate the help!

I am seeing this same error. I just upgraded to SoapUI Pro 4.6.4 on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. I tried the install just by clicking on it and then after seeing this error went back and re-installed as administrator. I still seem to be seeing this issue.

Any ideas on how I can debug it? If I installed the package as an administrator I should have access to just about any folder so I'm not understanding this error.

I have uninstalled an re-installed it with similar results. It seems to work at first and then I get error messages ever after. The funny thing is that is seems to actually be saving my project or at least parts of it. Changes I make are still there despite the error message. There is obviously something that is not able to save though.
  • Hi,

You should also run SoapUI Pro as an administrator. Right click and select 'Run as administrator', and make sure the user you logged in with has administrator privileges.

I am receiving this same message ("Failed to save project [project name]:java.io.IOException: Access is denied" ) on a project that is in a folder that I am absolutely certain I have access to. I know this, because when I open the project later, the changes that I made do show up. I am preparing for a presentation on 12 Aug to present how we plan to use, and have already started to use, SoapUI Pro for regression testing. This error has prompted questions during the dry run of the presentation, but I am hoping to avoid it on the day of the presentation.
