Code reuse in Groovy scripts

No, I can't think of any way of doing this unfortunately. As you mentioned, storing scripts in properties is not really an ideal solution. Hopefully we'll have support for per-project libraries in the future.

Also looking for steps to make a custom library of functions that can be used across many test cases so that can make changes centrally.

Just reading this for the first time and thinking off the top of my head...
One way to accomplish this now would be to have an entire TestSuite dedicated as the "Script Repo". Each TestCase would have one Groovy TestStep. You could use TestCase properties as inputs to the "function" and the return value of the Groovy TestStep is the return value of the "function". Of course whenever you want to call your "function", you'd have to always be sure to first set your inputs by using groovy to modify the TestCase "input" properties.

It's not very neat, but I think it could be done.

soapUI Pro 3.6.1 introduced a project-level script library (as a property for the project node in the bottom left table of properties), maybe that would suffice!?

Maybe the "Script Repo" is an option for the one example I had in mind.

Run negative test cases for security for many operations. i.e. test things like:

Bad security Credentials
Missing security user ID
Missing security Password
...
etc.

Was looking for way to pass in the operation to execute have have all these 1 to x test case against it.

I've managed to enable code reuse by making use of the GroovyShell. The following code:
- Creates a GroovyShell object and sets variables for it to use, notably the context and messageExchange variables.
- Loads and evaluates the script from the files system

 def shell = new GroovyShell()
 shell.setVariable("context", context)
 shell.setVariable("responseFilePath", '${expectedResponseXMLFile}') 
 shell.setVariable("messageExchange", messageExchange)
 shell.evaluate(new File("target/test-classes/shared/soap-assertion.groovy").text)

Using this I can load the same script from the file system in multiple places in my soapUI project. You could in theory have a whole library of scripts that use this technique to hook into soapUI.

Considering soap-assertion.groovy class file
shell.evaluate(new File("target/test-classes/shared/soap-assertion.groovy").text)
when I run this, this code runs only whatever there is within
public static void main(String[] args) { }

Suppose if I have few methods in the soap-assertion.groovy class file and I want to call one of them at a time and also by passing parameters to methods and capturing the return values from them, How would I will be able to achieve it?
