XPath Match Assertion passes test but fails when saved - Soa

Given a REST response that has a HTTP 405 status and returns data contentType = "null"

When an assertion is created for the null data, the assertion Test passes but the assertion fails with -> null/empty response

Is this normal behavior and is there another way to create an assertion that does not fail?
