Want some information about XQuery assertion

Hi
I am new to the Soap UI . I am not using the the Pro version.

I have so many doubts on the X query assertion.

I want to know why the  X query is used? when to use? and how to use it?

I had gone through the tutorial given in eviware website, but I found insufficient for me.
please help me regarding the same.
