Support enpoints with specified ports

There is need to be able to set the port for endpoints. Example: http://host_a:8000

This would eliminate MANY headaches for me; and based on all the searches I've done (forums, google, etc...), it would benefit many others too)

Maybe there's already a way to do this, but I haven't found it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
