SopaUI Pro 4.5.0.1 freezes at 1058 threads

I am running the latest nightly build of SoapUI Pro 4.5.0.1 and when I run a load test with 5,000 threads SoapUI hangs around the 1,058 mark and has to be terminated by task manager, losing any changes since last save. Fiddler shows that it stopped sending requests at the thread number that it froze at.

Is 5,000 threads too high? We are running on high-spec machines.

It freezes with the "Progress" pop-up window saying "Started thread 1058". Clicking the Cancel or X buttons many times does nothing.

  • Wow, 5,000 threads is a lot!

If your server handles a request in 0,20 seconds, 5,000 threads means 25,000 requests per second. The latest number I've seen of how many searches that Google has per second was 34,000 — and that's Google with more than 1 million servers deployed.

With that being said, the load testing feature of soapUI was stopped being actively developed in favor of loadUI a few years ago. LoadUI is free and can load test your existing soapUI TestCases.
