Hi ccdssv1 and redfish4ktc2,
To clarify our positioning, here's the official stance on open source:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are redirecting our efforts from maintaining and managing our Open Source testing tool for APIs so we can concentrate on building the best Pro tool available on the market.
Why are we doing it?
Our commitment to providing scalable extensible products is strong, as is our commitment to our users themselves. In one way, our shift from Open Source to Pro is a sign of that commitment, in that we want to dedicate our attention and resources to the product that can offer the most flexibility and power for our users.
We believe that focusing our efforts on making a fully supported, extensible and reasonably priced product will help to make our API testing tool the most competitive tool on the market. This focused effort will provide users with the features and functionality they have been asking for, and at the same time allow SmartBear to focus all our energies on making SoapUI Pro the best product in the market.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
With 'Ready! API' platform offering we were able to step back and take the features that we have added over the years in SoapUI Pro and broke them out around different solutions in the platform. So now, great features around load testing, security testing and service virtualization are each offered in their own solution within the 'Ready! API' platform.
As far as SoapUI Pro, we will maintain it for an indeterminate amount of time and provide any bug fixes in minor releases. New features (like code completion for Groovy that we rolled out) will be available only within the 'Ready! API' platform.
Also, to clarify: if you currently have SoapUI Pro installed and activated in your machine, you can now install and use 'Ready! API' on the same platform -
