SOAPUI 4.6 Cursor Location

I'm using a macbook pro retina and after upgrading to SOAPUI 4.6 the cursor is positioned about 20px below where the mouse thinks it is. i.e. if I think I'm clicking on one project in the tree, I'm actually clicking on the project below it. Very odd.

  • Hi

I'm also experiencing this. I'm running Mavericks and have multiple monitors setup. On the Retina screen the cursor is not in the correct place, which makes the application pretty unusable. Its not a problem on the secondary monitor but I'd rather use the retina screen.

I'm using 4.6.4 (Pro edition) so unless I'm doing something wrong this bug is not fixed.....

I've resorted to using virtual box to run SoapUI (which is obviously a bit of joke of a solution)

Be good if you could re-investigate this and fix

    Cheers
  • I have the same problem. It looks like there is extra spaces, the longer words I write the more "extra spaces" it looks like.
Running SOAPUI 4.6.4 on a MAc book pro, retina, 15-inch late 2013
    I have OS X 10.9.2 (Maveriks).

My soapui is also very slow, and sometimes all colors goes to a grey nyans. It got better allowing it to use more memory and uncomment
    JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dsoapui.jxbrowser.disable=true"
to disable browser component in soapui.sh (/Applications/SoapUI-4.6.4.app/Contents/Resources/app/bin/soapui.sh).

I've tried all suggestions above in the thread without success, but what else can I do to get rid of extra spaces and get a faster SOAPUI?

    Hi,

I'm sorry you have been having difficulties taking advantage of the Retina display with SoapUI.
I believe it must be a matter of adjusting the settings on your machine. Please make sure also that you have installed SoapUI bundled with Java as the latest should work with the Retina display.
Otherwise, on the Mac, please do the following if you can't get the Retina display as expected:
In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
In the Applications folder that opens, click the application's icon so it is highlighted.
Choose Get Info from the File menu.
Place a checkmark next to "Open in Low Resolution" to enable Low Resolution mode.
    Then reopen SoapUI.

  • I can confirm that switching to low resolution mode fixes the cursor location problem and performance issues in SoapUI on newer Macbooks. SoapUI now looks rubbish but at least it's usable which it wasn't before.

My Macbook is the newest one with retina (resolution: "best for display"), running latest OS and SoapUI 4.6.4. Let me know if you need more info to debug.

Pheww, I'm not the only one with this annoying issue.

Seems like the work-arounds, lower resolution, is the best option, makes soapui look blurry though.

Found some interesting reads about Retina and Swing applications, seems like the jre's between 6 and 7 might be where the differences in experience are seen. For instance the apple distributed jre 6 had support for retina, but oracle's 7 did not.
