SoapUI 4.5.2 on Linux: socket timeouts

I regularly face reported timeouts with SoapUI 4.5.2 on Debian 7 using Sun 1.6 JRE 32-bits when running very very very easy scripts via testrunner.
I have disabled the GUI (like you would do when using Mac OS), but no improvement.
When there is a timeout it is (almost?) always the final teststep (of a total of 3-4-5 teststeps in my project).
I have configured the timeout at 20 seconds, where all calls are answered in between 100 and 6000msec.
Do you have the same issue? Have you been able to solve it.. please let me know!
