Saving license file in wrong directory

Hi,

one of our users has got a new account name (lets say it was "A" before and now it's "B")
Now soapUI Pro still stores the licenses file (.lic) at the old user home directory (C:\users\A\.soapui) instead of the new user home directory (C:\users\B\.soapUI).

Can you please tell me, what uses soapUI to determine the directory to save the license file to?

Best regards
Nico

    Hi Erik,

I don't do much about this, because I have no overview about administration settings.
All these things are done by special technical administrators (not by the user himself).

I only know, that the user definitely has a new home folder, where all other personal data is stored.
But soapUI creates his "old" home folder, when importing the license file.

  • Hi,

Each license is associated to a user account and that user account should have admin privileges to create .soapui folder in the user folder, if you create a new user then you need to activate the license again in that user account with admin access so this will create the .soapui folder

    Thanks,

    Hi Jeshta,

    thanks for your reply.
Did you notice that we are still using .lic files (not .key)?
So there is no special activiation process to do here.
We just import them to soapUI Pro and the tool copies the license to the .soapUI folder.

We already tried to reimport the file. But this didn't changed the result.

  • Hi,

Even if its .lic license it is user aligned so you need to add the license in the SoapUI Pro for that user folder. You need admin access to run SoapUI Pro.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jeshtha,

I'm still not sure what do you mean with "the license is user aligned".

When I add a license to soapUI Pro (after starting the tool), soapUI puts the license to my personal home directory.
But this would be done for every other user too, if he/she would use the same licenses.
What I mean is, the license itself contains no information about where to put it after importing it to soapUI Pro.

So I assume, soapUI Pro does determine the required license location (=my home directory) by using some system properties / registry entries (or similar).

And for one of our users, this currently works not as aspected. So my question is: How does soapUI Pro determine where to put the license to?

(Btw: each of our users has admin access on its pc)

    Best regards
