I would recommend to have a look at the "What is the difference between WebLoadUI and LoadUI?" FAQ entry at http://webloadui.org/faqs/webloadui-general.html.
You may consider to use AQtime (http://smartbear.com/products/qa-tools/ ... -profiling) to measure the performance of the desktop application.
If you are interested to check how application's back-end handles concurrent requests, then you may consider TestComplete (http://smartbear.com/products/qa-tools/ ... ting-tools, http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/27017/, http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/28168/) with or without integration with AQtime.
