I have answers for few of these questions, as I am using both Ready API 1.4.0 and SoapUI 5.2.1,
1. Can readyapi project be open in soapui? (if yes how are environment variables handled)
Ans: Yes, I can seamless open projects created in SoapUI NG in SoapUI OS 5.2. I have seen the pro features not available/ not visible in SoapUI OS, but I could able to do the basic operations whatever SoapUI OS supports (Eg: Data Source/ Data Sink etc.,). I have tested the compatibility of environment variables yet!
2. Is there free version of redyapi just like soapui?
Ans: All the basic operations could be done in SoapUI OS. It is completely free!
3. Do we need license version to run scripts done in ready api or command line does not need license version?
Ans: Groovy / Command Line scripts created in Ready API will run even in SoapUI OS, except the pro related dependencies.
I have just compared the recent versions; I have experienced some problems when opening in lower versions. (Downward compatibility)

Thanks Kondasamy...
I have seen some errors popping up when i switch between soapUi and NG. Also wonder how autosave options works when projects are open in both tools. I would like it to work seamlessly as people may share same scripts with different versions. Opening a project is not a issue, however when we keep it open, saves or autosaves is the real question.
Also when you said Pro related dependancies, does that mean the script will fail if using any pro features?
I want to analyze this from automation prospective and not just running manual scripts.
I feel there aren't enough warnings about not messing things up between different products.
