Excel data source read by column

In the Data Source Options dialogue, settings, Start Row and End Row can be specified. However my data is a time series, from left to right column. Can a start and end column be configured as data so...

    Not sure that you can achieve this with DataSource, but yes you can write your custom code. In order to use Groovy Script you can use Groovy test step ad write your code no further installation is required as in ReadyAPI groovy Libraries are pre-installed.

I'm able to work with the data if/when transposed, although this adds an extra step into our automation.

 

I did look at several methods of working with excel, in Groovy, but these all seemed to require extra libraries for Groovy - which I don't know how to install into the ReadyAPI implementation.

    The examples I have seen for working with excel in Groovy have either used Active X, ApachePOI, or Spreadsheet builder.

     

    Using the Groovy Console, I can see the ActiveXObject isn't available:

    groovy> import org.codehaus.groovy.scriptom.ActiveXObject 
 
1 compilation error:

unable to resolve class org.codehaus.groovy.scriptom.ActiveXObject
 at line: 1, column: 1

    and both ApachePOI or Spreadsheet, as I understand, are third party/additional libraries, that would require installation. I don't know how installation occurs for Groovy in ReadyAPI.

     

    If there is a default library within Groovy in ReadyAPI that works specifically with excel (ideally with examples), then I'd use that, but don't know what that is.
