CPU Utilization

How does soapui runs it requests, Does it runs the request 1 after another or simultaneously? Is there a way to change how many simultaneous requests it can run? I have a big suite of functional tests and any time I run that, the CPU utilization on the Server where services resides goes very high and in some cases it even brings the server down.
