Blank custom property?

Is it possible to have a blank custom property? I have an endpoint from which I am grabbing two values, but sometimes the 2nd value is blank -- this is fine. A few steps later I hit another endpoint ...

All the 4 steps that you mentioned can directly be handled in one groovy script step base on the info provided.

Can you direct me to some resources on how to do this? I did some Googling but didn't find too much.
