How to run the WebServices test

Hi Praveen,



AFAIK, WebService object creates SOAP header by itself and it is not possible to modify it.



I am not sure I understood the problem you are talking about here and in the mentioned thread, so some code sample with the problem/error description might help.

TestComplete or LoadComplete?

below is my context:

I followed the steps below:

 

1. Open the Test Complete

2. Added the Web service Project.

3. Navigate to the Web service node

4. Click on Add

5. select the WSDL in the
popup(https://devtest.idigi.com/mobile/services/DeviceManagementService?wsdl)

6. Click on Get services

7. Populate the Tested service and Click on OK Button in
the Pop up 8. I got the Types and Methods listed for that services.

I am getting the error as"User Creditionals
Required", Because of that service don't have the

 

Header part

<soapenv:Header>

      <username>Admin</username>

      <password>password</password>

      <ipaddress>172.80.1.55</ipaddress>

      <portalId>1</portalId>

</soapenv:Header>

 

Using Soap UI, i am adding above header part externally
to that Particular service and run. It is executing- Correct.

 

But i don't have option to modify service in the Test
complete.

So , i need to add the only Header part without changing the service for that service while
executing. Then only i will get the result.



I read the article http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/29074/
before sending this . But, in that example, it is converting Header part
as well as Web service standard code in to xml. I want add the Header part and
append to existing Web service.

This is for functional testing using Test complete 9, but
in the form unfortunately started as in Load complete.

I had a similar problem and was told by Support that wsdl of web service must include information that the given web service requires authentication. If such information exists in wsdl, then in TestComplete9, in addition to your code, you should be able to write something like this (VBScript):

  Set oService = WebServices.<YourWebService>

  Set oServiceSecurity = oService.Credentials

  oServiceSecurity.UserName.UserName = "Admin"

  oServiceSecurity.UserName.Password = "Password"

  ...



If wsdl does not contain information about required authentication, then the only possible approach for now is to create request manually, like it is described in the http://support.smartbear.com/viewarticle/29074/ help article.



I hope that Support will correct me if I was incorrect at some point (and hope to get their comment).

I'm afraid that I need to ask you for the files generated by TestComplete for the web service or for the WebService Editor window screenshot with expanded relevant nodes in order to be able to give you more or less useful answer. We may try some private means if you think that such information can not be published here. (Obviously, confidentiality from my side is guaranteed.)



Otherwise, below are my general considerations:

-- I think that UserVO object is irrelevant for the FleetManagementService because it (UserVO object) belongs to the LoginService web service;

-- I think that you should consult with developers and ask them if there is some required sequence of calls of FleetManagementService web service methods. I can imagine two scenarios:

a) it may be required to call some method initially and provide authentication data as its parameters. On successful authenticaiton the method will return some data that must be used as one of the parameters for all other methods; and

b) there is no method required to be called initially and authentication data must be provided as a parameters for any method.

-- In any case, I think that your code

I think that this means that you are trying to insert another record into DB that violates some constraint. You should either delete the record inserted previously, or change some data to meet constraint requirements.

The usual code for the XmlHttpRequest.send() approach is like this:

I hope the code like the above should work for you (just put the breakpoint on the 'If (200 <> XmlHttpRequest.status) Then' line and examine the XmlHttpRequest object in the TestComplete Inspector window).
