What is gstatic.com and is it a virus at AlertSite?

just to clarify:
These calls do not appear in reports because of a virus or malware installed at the AlertSite Remote locations.
"There is no virus or malware installed on the AlertSite Remote location severs that causes these calls to appear in reports."

Another note regarding the default behavior of Chrome as it relatesd to gstatic:

 

"In the event that Chrome detects SSL connection timeouts, certificate errors, or other network issues that might be caused by a captive portal (a hotel's WiFi network, for instance), Chrome will make a cookieless request to http://www.gstatic.com/generate_204 and check the response code."
