Would anyone be willing to talk me thru a simple REST test

I know EXACTLY what I want to do, but I'm finding soapUI very daunting. The docs on the home page are very detailed, but I can't work out how to apply them to my needs.

If I provide a set of 3 url's and expected XML responses to our test REST api, and a description of what I'm after, could someone talk me thru the process of creating a test case where I can exercise the three simple calls, capturing info from call 1 and using it in call 2? A dialogue vi email or in this forum is fine (I suspect in this forum would help more people).

If someone can get me that far, I think I'd be ready to rock and roll with this.

I contacted a local UK training company, and they quoted me 6000UKP to develop and 3600UKP to deliver 2 days hands on soapUI training. Thats orders of magnitude above what I could persuade my bosses to pay.

I can't guarantee being able to pay in anything but gratitude and kudos (and maybe cookies if postage not too far around the planet), but gratitude I have heaps of.

I *am* technical (25 years as a dev), but new to soapUI and a bit green on XML. Soap is completely new to me.

Hopefully
David

  • Hi,
    i can help you.
I have already use SoapUi since 6 months an i have learned everything alone.
I have developped about 50 webservices with spring ws. They have all soapui tests.

Sometimes it was really painful but i have finally be able to integrate my Soapui Project on a CI (hudson)
    with the plugin maven.

    By the way, im french.

I can help you. I expect from you to provide me available url of your rest services & a very detailled document
about what you want to test.

    Something like this :
    * webservice GetSttuff.
    Hi is the request (...)
I expect this response (...) or this assertions to be correct etc.

I dont want to guess what parameters need to be provided.

If you are ok with that, send me a private message with your email & a uploaded document of your specifications.
