using soapui and soap monitor on windows platform
I have soapui running on windows without a hitch. However, I can't seem to get soap monitor to find anything. Is tcpmon or some other app required here? And if so, what and how!

Not exactly sure what you mean by "find".. you have to configure the monitor to run either as proxy or tunnel and then configure the client you want to monitor accordingly;
- if you set the monitor as proxy, you must configure your client to use it as its http proxy (so traffic is proxied through the monitor)
- if you set the monitor as tunnel, you must point your client directly at the monitor, which will tunnel the traffic to the configured target endpoint
Anyhow, be sure to use the latest nightly-build (http://www.eviware.com/nightly-builds) to get all the latest fixes!
