SoapUI 4.5.1 Stops Working

When I try to run a Soap Request, I don't think its actually making the request. I never get ANYTHING in the response pane, the Request Log just says Error getting response; org.apache.http.client.ClientProtocolException. I am running on 32-bit Windows 7 Enterprise.

We have an installation proprietary application which includes a workflow component; I'm attempting to use SoapUI to unit test the workflows that we develop in it via their documented, soap based web services. Unfortunately, it quit working on me. I have no budget for this project. so hopefully some where here can make some helpful suggestions.

Originally this happened suddenly in 4.1 so I saw that 4.5.1 had been released so I uninstalled 4.1 and have installed 4.5.1 Since the upgrade I've had a bit of stability issues (4.1 was rock solid for me), but it has worked for about a week when the same "not working" issue occurred.

I'd be happy to RTFM if you can point me to threads (I tried searching first since its quicker, but I'm not sure what keywords to use). I'll obviously supply more information, but I'm not sure what else to provide so ask and I'll gladly provide.

I've also noticed a lot of stability issues since upgrading; I want to keep this post on topic but if its rock solid for most people that may be an indication of an error. Also, if I drop custom properties into the soap request pane, it clears ALL text whereas previously it would place the variable name where it was dropped. I have one subordinate working on this who has NEVER used SoapUI previously and he has a very negative feeling about it due to how often it locks up/crashes so its not specific to my computer, but we're both in the same ActiveDirectory domain, probably both have the same install of libraries, tools, patches (e.g. Java installs, windows patches etc)

have you try to install soapui from the zip file? Use the standalone one to get it package with a jre 7 jvm

Thanks for the suggestion; its working on unzipping as I speak but I'm about to run to a meeting.

In terms of the request, I think the actual SoapUI is okay. Right before I left yesterday I created a new request and it worked, thus my current guess is the project file is corrupt. I'm not sure why SoapUI wouldn't complain while loading it, but I just find it odd that it works for new requests. It's not quit an Apples to Apples comparison as the new request was just a request whereas the part that quit working is in the testing module, but with the application locking up and windows killing it, this theory seems more plausible then SoapUI just quits working.

I'm unzipping the standalone partially just to see how it reacts to the project; if my gut is right and there's a problem with the project hopefully I can fix it and hopefully the standalone is more stable (thus addressing the assumed root cause of stability corrupting the file in some way). Or I could get really lucky, be completely wrong, and your suggestion magically fixes everything.

Will update as I know more; I REALLY appreciate the ideas!
