  • Hi,

I carried out the Proof of Concept for our company when looking at a variety of Service Test Tools.
SOAP UI and HP Service Test were amongst the tools that we looked at.

HP Service Test integrates with QC (although there is an external plugin for SOAP UI that will enable a degree of this I believe) - as far as I can tell this is the primary advantage of it over SOAP UI.

Even with engineers from HP on site, we encountered numerous issues getting it up and running, and if your company centrally controls the PC time as ours does then that can also cause problems.

I wasn't a fan of HP Service Test - I found it clunky and not nearly as user friendly as SOAP UI, which whilst for myself is not an issue, given some of the resource we engage at short notice a tool that is much easier to pick up and run with is a great advantage.
Additionally I found a lot of the claimed functionality, for example the autogenerated tests, provided little or no value with the WSDLs we were using at the time.

After using both tools I recommended that we go ahead with SOAP UI Pro, and this has been taken up.
At the end of the day I believe that SOAP UI Pro is capable of everything that HP Service Test is, and at a fraction of the price.

Hope that's of some little use to you.

    Geoff
