How to use directory Datasource

Hi I have used all the data source ,  but I am facing problems in using Directory data source . I did not find much user guide on that too.
I want to know ...

  1. Encoding : which is the option available in the datasource , what we should give for that.
  2. For example if I am using notepad as directory data source and I have multiple values in the each notepad how to separate those values ( for example we will use , as separator in FILE data source like so how in Directory data source)

  Please if any one has done the groovy scripting for oracle JDBC  connection
please give the sample script file , I am new to scripting I dont have much idea.
