functional automation for web applications

I am new to SoapUI and i want to know if i can use SoapUI for automating functional testing of general web applications.
or is this tool mainly for web services testing? I am looking for a tool that can be used for functional testing of web apps and also for load testing. Will the SoapUI/Load UI combination works for this purpose?

    Hi,

    As far as my understanding goes, this tool won't let you test the functional and GUI aspect of the application. Its only for testing web services et al.
