First request is slow

I have a REST service under test using NVP in the body created with token replacement. The first loop through the test case the requests takes ~4500ms, all subsequent requests are under 300ms
The datasource is excel, it is set to pre-load if possible
I'm using soapUI Pro 3.5
At a guess it is some kind of preparation for the request, is there a way for me to force this to occur before the request execution so that the SLA assertion works correctly
