Crashes on 64-bit linux

I downloaded the binary zip for linux, and on first startup, it complained about not running on a 64-bit JVM. So I removed the "-d32" flag from the JAVA_OPTS in soapui.sh. On the next start, the application starts up normally, first with a splash screen and then the main application window, and promptly crashes with a hotspot error. I've tried three separate JVMs:

  • OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11pre) (6b23~pre11-0ubuntu1.11.10.2)/OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)

  • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_29-b11)/Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.4-b02, mixed mode)

  • Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_03-b04)/Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 22.1-b02, mixed mode)

The hotspot errors all look roughly the same:

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0x00007f839d4e35f1, pid=10315, tid=140203431413504

# JRE version: 6.0_23-b23
# Java VM: OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (20.0-b11 mixed mode linux-amd64 compressed oops)
# Derivative: IcedTea6 1.11pre
# Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10, package 6b23~pre11-0ubuntu1.11.10.2
# Problematic frame:

I'm guessing that it is trying to read a config file stored by soapui 4.0.1 somewhere, but there's just not much info in the logs on what is going on. Anybody else try running this on a 64-bit JVM?

  • Hi,

    hmm.. try adding

    -Dsoapui.jxbrowser.disable=true

to the jvm options in the .sh file - does this help?

Adding the jxbrowser disable flag fixed my problems on a Linux x86_64 installation.

Try replacing the -d32 flag with the -d64 flag. This assisted with my installation.
