Automating a Data Retrieval Process

Hi, I have been tasked with the job of getting certain data from a website and importing it into an Excel spreadsheet.

I have access to the website Web Service and am using SoapUI to get the data directly from the server. Using the WSDL provided I can receive XML messages with the relevant data but, as I am so new to this, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good tutorial sites for automating the whole process?

I tried the ones on the SoapUI website but would prefer tutorials with examples. I know JavaScript and so would rather use that than Groovy.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
