Syntax for selecting specific xml strings or selecting strings if a criteria is met

Hello,

To export a list of defects into Excel via Visual Basic, I am accessing the QAComplete REST API using the GET method.

I want to limit the parameters in the GET request's xml query string to display specific nodes/attributes only or display results only if they contain a specific value (e.g. Name, ID, Status = "Closed")

Would highly appreciate it if anyone could provide with me with the correct syntax.
