Ability to paste Screen Capture without having to save it locally or directly from QAComplete
At present user have to Take a screenshot from third party tool, save it locally, then click on upload and find the document where it was saved. It is a process on it own. It would be better if user can take screenshot direclty from QAcomplete tool and don't need to save it locally or just copy and paste direclty in the actual resuts. That will save lot of time.
Import Test Steps for Existing Tests
We would like to the ability to specify an existing Test within a csv andimport new Test Steps for it. Below is our use case for this request. For our implementation of QAComplete, we are using a staged rollout. That is, we are creating Tests without Test Steps and executing the corresponding Test Sets. We are doing this due to the time constraintsand resourcelimitations to entering the large volume of tests and the varied state of testing documentation throughout the organization.
List Items - Readability Improvements
Following features are decreasing the sw useability ever since new visual "upgrade": * Posibility to brows through release tree structure without the need of drop-down (in addition large font makes it impossible to read selected release in the dropdown field) * Interactive icons for "Edit", "Print Friendly", "Email", etc. are shown over the item name and number effectively obstracting it. (It is imposible to demonstrate which defect we are discussing becase when you point on it by mouse, nobody can read the title.)Show the host name that tests are executing on
It would be helpful to show the name of the host that tests executed on in the run history window. 2 reasons: 1. While tests are executing it would be good to know which hosts are in use. 2. If tests are failing because of issues with a host then seeing the host name next to failed tests in the run history is a good indicator there is a problem on the host.Progress bar / indicator for automated test run time
Some of our tests runs are quite lengthy it would be nice to know how far along an automated test run is. This could be as simple as determining the average time usuallly taken for that test run and showing where the current run is within that time as is done in Jenkins.
Test Schedule - manipulate order of linked items
Hello, I'm using test schedules in order to run automatated tests (TestComplete). I've noticed that I cannot change order of linked Tests/Test Sets. I have to remove them all and add one by one in preferred order. I'd like to request a feature that enables to manage order of linked Tests/Test Sets. In some cases I need to run automated Tests in certain sequence.
Update Test Cases in an active Test Run
When someone updates a test case in the library, I want the update to reflect in all active test runs. I know that you can update the test case during a test run but if someone else updates the test case in the library or in their own run, I cannot see those changes."Unexecuted" status on dashboard reports
Currently there is no way to track via dashboard reports, tests that have not been run. This is an important use case as it would allow us to track how many tests are still in the queue during a release. You currently have to go in and run a test once to get it to the "awaiting run" status, and that's not worth the time it would take. Just add an "unexecuted" status and have it be triggered if a test set has not been run in it's most recent tagged release/iteration.
Make Test description and notes visible in Testrunner
When starting tests from test sets, the only way to view a tests description is to open the print preview. However since our tests usually have a lot of different preconditions (e.g. which database to use or which steps to prepare) we need the description quite often. It would be very helpful if a tests description and notes were accessible more quickly in the test runner.Scheduling Manual Tests And Dashboard Chart Showing Progress Against Plan
A key metric I am commonly asked for is "what is our test progress against plan?" Right now, I have a custom field "planned test date" that I have to manually populate test by test (or fast edit). The only way I can report on this is to then run a test library export (from legacy reports as the new reports module .csv includes excessive blank columns) in to an MS Excel dashboard where I then have a formula similar to this: =COUNTIFS('QAC_Extract'![RANGE],[LOOKUP],'QAC_Extract'![RANGE],"<="&[TODAY]) (where LOOKUP is the Planned Test Date) Used in conjunction with total number of tests, and the sum of the tests that have a Last Run Status I can determine how many were planned by today and how many were attempted. This gives me stats as shown in the attachment. It would be great if QAComplete could do all this tracking for me, using a dashboard line chart.SOAP API LoadByCriteria request select specific fields
Hi, I think a good addition to the the SOAP API would be the ability to select specific fields when doing a request. For example, when using theBugs_LoadByCriteria request we could specified only the field that we want. This will help a lot to reduce the time the query can take and help to have a much clearer response. We have thousands of tests in our testing events that must be organized in folders by applications and often sub folders for Day 1, Day 2,Day due to the hospitalworkflows we test. Right now all folders must be created manually in QAC. When we were on HP ALM we were able to build our folder structure into the upload path and ALM would create the folders so we never had to do that manually. This manual effort can take quite awhile, and in a resource/time constrained environment every minute/hour counts. Suggestion: Make it possible to define the folder names/structure in the upload *.csv file and enhance tool to create the folders automatically during the upload processing.Test copying
When you copy tests from one project to another in QAC, all related items are copied as well, copying history, notes and attachments from the original items. We re use test cases frequently and are often asked to copy previously executed test cases over to new projects. It is inconvenient to go through the new tests and delete all history, notes and attachments. I believe the alternative is to upload fresh tests every time. Since we deal with thousands of tests the ability to copy tests from one project to another creating a brand new instance of that test is important. Suggestion:A Fast Edit option to copy the test, or multiple testsonly, without pulling over any history, notes or attachments from the copy source.QAComplete - maximum logins per project
Hi, We currently have a number of teams using our on-prem instance of QAComplete. We have concurrent licenses, however some teams end up using all the licenses, stopping other teams from logging in to work on their projects. Specify Number of Test Cases Needed to cover a Requirement
I would like to be able to determine, at the requirement level, how many test cases I am planning to have for it. Example. I have a requirement that will need 3 test cases. I only write and link one of the 3. The requirement is only 33% covered, as oposed to be considered just "covered" (binary option) when 1 test case is linked. Since ALMComplete is at end of life, it would be useful if custom list and shared document capabilities were incorporated into QAComplete. Our project has recently integrated a help desk capability into QAComplete the last year and have re-purposed the "Agile Tasks" area to accomodate this change. It would be nice if we could have use the custom list capability for this. In addition, being able to share test documents would be very helpful.Form field groupings and visibility
In the various forms within QA Complete such as test, requirement, and so on the fields are all listed on the page and while I often times need some of these fields such as last run or test type I don't need them all the time. Visually it would be an improved experience to either categorize or group these fields and allow users to set the default view of that section or allow users to create their own sections with headings and set their default visibility to collapsed or expanded. For example all the task assignment, ownership, run history and so on could begrouped into a section with some heading and then set to a default visibility of collapsed. So, it's there when I need it but when I don't it's not in the way. These sections should also be able to be moved positionally like custom fields can be so I can put it where it makes sense for the team. Example (just an off the top of my head) Test Data - Description - Setup - Pre-condition - Post-condition Test Steps - Test step(s) TestExecution - Assigned to - Owner - Last run test set - Last run status
Make indication of passed and failed in the listing display more emphatic
In the listing display for the test library and for test sets, a last run status of passed displays in green and a last run status of failed displays in red. It would be helpful if this were more emphatic, such as a green bar and a red bar and possibly a black bar for not run. As it is, it is understated and we really want this to jump out at us.Streamline the test runner when a test is executed from the Test Library
To run one test from the Test Library, there is currently a lot of unnecessary clicking. It would be very helpful if unneeded test runnersteps were removed when an individual test is being executed rather than a test set. For example, in the Test Library, I click on the Run Now icon, select the release and then have to click the Run Test icon again. As there is only one test, why not display step one after the release is selected? There is an icon for “Next Test”. As this is not a run of a test set, there is no next test, so that icon should not display. If I click “Pass All Steps” or “Fail All Steps”, that should be the end of the test. Instead, I click “End Run” and I have to click to pass again. This may seem minor, but lots of clicking becomes very burdensome when we have many, many tests and not a lot of time.Add Custom Fields to Test Runner
We need the ability to add custom fields to the Test Runner. When we test for a release, new builds are continously created and are used by various departments/individuals to test against. We need to record which build was used duringeach test run. We also need to be able to record which environment the test was executed in. Our test environments are extremely dynamic in that db schemas are refreshed frequently, new builds are installed, and various browsers are used. This information is needed for each test run for tracking and performing root causes analyses.XXXX Naming feature for test cases
Why can't we have the XXXX naming feature that Requirements have for test cases? If we could also use it as an identifier, we could display the test names in the library tree. We could see at a glance what tests are in each folder without having to open each folder. Also wouldn't have to do a quick search just to see where the test is sitting. All those extra key strokes and waiting for tool response times will really not be missed. Need this one urgently!Display total number of tests run, passed and failed when running a Test Complete project.
The previous version of QA Complete / Automation Bridge would display the total number of tests run and the number of tests passed and tests failed in the run when running a Test Complete project. This functionality seems to have been removed.
Documentation of QAComplete Control to TestExecute
Our team is using QAComplete in cloud to control the local TestExecute run to perform testing. The issue is that there is no documentation about the connection process. Due to the computer system issue, the QAComplete sometimes cannot receive the final status from TestExecute causing many issues. So we would like to understand more about how QAComplete receive the status report from TestExecute, or any documentation for the connection between QAComplete and TestExecute. Renaming an added folder from Project Suite
Sure would be nice if each time under right click "Project->Add->New folder" allows for rename vs. having to click away then right click to rename folder. The default folder NewFolderx is not the folder name desired. Same comment applies whenever "Add->New Folder" is selected.QAComplete with Cross Browser Testing

This is the #1 request we're getting from our users as we roll it out. Do we know if there are any plans to include a screenshot tool in a future release? In QAComplete is not possible to do a bulk assignment to a particular tester for part of the tests in a specific test set . The manually update can take much time, especially when we talk about hundreds of imported tests under a test set. This feature will be very helpful for us.Administrator option to push list screen layout to all Users
It would be great if there was an option for Administrators to push list screen layouts for each applicable section (Releases, Requirements, Test Library, Defects, etc) to all our users. Right now this is dependent on the user who likely won't take the time to do this. We're an On-Premise customer and we recently upgraded from 11.7 to 12.0. Following the upgrade I distributed a suggested column layout for these pages but like most of my emails, it was mostly ignored. If instead I could push out my suggested column layouts for list screens, I think our QAComplete users would have a better grasp of what they're looking at, as well as utilizing some of the columns that are so helpful with linking (e.g., #Tests, etc). It is becoming difficult to select single testcase and drop to the testset when there are huge number of test cases instead it will be good to have selecting multiple testcases and dropping them while creating Testset in QA. It will be useful if user wants to create testset with random test cases.When using Auto-Fill From Recent to create a new Release item, include all old Links with auto-fill
As part of my team's workflow, we will need to create a new Release each week for certain projects, and we would like to have all of the same links from the old Release also be included in the new Release. From that point, we can delete any old links no longer required, and add new links as needed. There is an "Auto-Fill From Recent" feature in QAComplete that allows you to auto-fill most of the information from the old Release into a new Release being created, but this feature does NOT include any links from the old Release. As such, we will have to review the links made in the old Release via the EDIT page or Reports, then manually create all of these links again in the new Release. This can become very time-consuming based on the number of Tests, Test Sets, and Defects that are linked to the old Release. For this feature request post, we would like to have the "Auto-Fill From Recent" feature also include links when filling in a new Release from a recent/old Release.QAC Feature Request: Deployment Log/Log Creation with custom fields (configuration management capab)
In our organization we use QA Complete to manage our defects and feature requests, and we have external and internal parties who deploy various features to various environments. It would be enormously helpful to be able to use QA Complete to track these deployment activities on the Defect level by enabling the inclusion of a log with entries. See Example below - While there is a history in QA Complete and even custom fields, the fields are not dynamic and there is no place to maintain a log that I can see. My request would be to allow for either a log creation or the ability to have fields which are dependent on each other or even dynamic - i.e. Deployed to Env xxx on YYY date and intended for zzz release --- OR Check In date - targeted for release xxx -- in environment yyy See example below of something we started doing to track our deployments (mind you I know there are separate full on configuration management solutions/web applications -- but it would be great if QA Complete had some of these capabilities... -Thank you! - Erik Hendin / Quality Manager@ 32BJ Benefit Funds... Item edit screens (such as defect edit screen) shall support drag and drop reorder, resize and autoscale features in addition to the number of columns configuration. The current solution does not allow to configure the default fields (such as Linked Items) and leads to poor readability with multiple columns shown in addition to the fact that the screen layout does not make any use of the screen width. This leads to poor readability of some fields (typically Linked Items)
