How do I use wild cards or remove Page numbers in my test.
So while working through creating my tests I have always found that Test Complete assigns page numbers to some of my buttons that I am working through. Keyword and Script, (page327703.btnOK.ClickButton() most of the time its not an issue but sometimes I end up withpage327702.btnOK.ClickButton() which causes a failed test, I work within Python and have tried to use some wildcards to remove the need to worry about the page number as my developers are not sure where the page number in coming from, (Believe Test Complete) I also see in my name mapping that I have 32770, 327702 and 327703 and every button that I need in listed in both and I have them set to extended find. I would like to remove the dependency of the page number and just have the program work with the buttons on the screen being that its all we care about is that the button in the program functions. Thank you.406Views0likes2CommentsRe: Is there a default number of tests shown in the project list?
Hmm, well there are only two of us that use this program and we want everything on the same plane with the same settings, and being that I'm missing the tests when I pull down from the repo it makes it difficult to push a test. I'll have to dig deeper into this, we each have our own system that we remote in to build tests so we kind of need them to be on the same level so we can each work within each of our areas. I guess this will take some trial and error. Thank you.728Views0likes1CommentIs there a default number of tests shown in the project list?
So I have created over 30 something tests in my project and we used to use the Network testing but due to it being discontinued we have been forced to move to a Jenkins server and store our tests on Github, I have just re-imaged out test system and reinstalled Test Complete on my test system and pulled all my tests from my Github repo and only about 18 of them are showing in the Project list but in my C:/TestComplete/Project they are all present. I spent the last few weeks re-adding them through "add existing item" and retesting them to verify they work I updated them as needed and pushed them to my repo, I then pulled them into our second testers system and noticed that only 18 of them show like before, so just to test it I made another pull on my master system and now all the other tests are missing in the project list again. I have read through the documentation and I have not seen this covered anywhere. Thank you.Solved756Views0likes5CommentsWhat is page327704 number and how do I make it a wild card.
I'm going through a test a created a few months ago and it ran through and passed the first time I ran it through, on the second run it failed so using the target icon or ctrl-shift-A the page will change from 327704 to 327702, and then on the next run change back. I have seen this before with other tests that I have created but it had never changed from the original test build. This is a custom program my company has created and we do not have these numbers in our code. When I touch a button that I want to test it is just visible and I really don't care what page its on I just want it to work. True, I know a few months ago I was able to call out for my program to pass if it found the colors Black and white using the 0x000000, 0xFFFFFF from the TC documentation and it would pass them and block all other colors, I have not been able to get back to that for a few months and now that I am I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you all for giving me ideas this group is always helpful.1.7KViews2likes0Comments
