SmartBear x64 hook installer
Due to various factors (coronavirus, working from home, etc.) we have been unable to upgrade from TestComplete 11 to TestComplete 14. I hope you can still help me with a problem I am having. I have recently been supplied with a nice new laptop (Windows 10) which I had to install TestComplete. There were no issues with the installation and accessing the Sentinel Admin Control Center soon had me linking to the licence server and running TestComplete. When I start using TC everything works fine but when I select the Object Browser, either via the Object Spy or directly TC slows down. It can take up to 10 seconds for a mouse action to be actioned, e.g. Click "Point and fix" in the object Spy then move the mouse pointer to a screen object there is a long delay before the object is highlighted. I investigated a number of possibilities for the cause of the problem. It was when I displyed the Task Manager that I saw that "SmartBear x64 hook installer" was taking up to 25% of CPU loading when the delays were occuring. Is there something I missed during installation? Is there anything I can do to speed up "SmartBear x64 hook installer"?Solved1.2KViews0likes1CommentRe: Upgrade to TestComplete 14
Thank you for the swift reply. The problem I have is relates to upgrading the licence to version 14 and then individual PCs with TC and/or TE. Your link provided was useful and helped me find the licensing information I need. We are fortunate that we have just started to migrate our large testpack from QTP to TestComplete and are trying out different options. The current testpack consists of about 250 files ofVBscript functions with test data held ina mixture of Excel, XML and Access files, developed over the last 10+ years.1.6KViews0likes0CommentsUpgrade to TestComplete 14
After a number of departures and redundancies I seem to be the person to upgrade TestComplete/TestExecute. We are currently running TC11 but need to upgrade to TC14. Looking at the Sentinel Admin Control Center we have 18 Perpetual licences for TestExecute (TE11) and 7 Perpetual licences for TestComplete (TC11). How do I proceed?Solved1.6KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Calling a VBscript with extension .vbs from Test Complete code
Thank you for your answer which solved the initial problem. Unfortunately our current QTP framework has more than 400 function libraries built up over the last 10 years, covering: Basic framework functions; Business functions; Applications functions (used by the Business functions). Each test (250+) is controlled by an Excel spreadsheet which lists a sequence of Business functions required to cover a specific Business Process, with the test name used to identify the controlling spreadsheet. Hopefully we will be able to use TestComplete's built-in functions to replace, or simplify, a lot the current QTP based function libraries. I think the conversion exercise will take a little bit longer :-)2.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Calling a VBscript with extension .vbs from Test Complete code
Sorry to resurrect this topic but I am moving from QTP to TestComplete and have a lot of function libraries used in our existing framework. I have tried a simple exercise to try calling a function from a .vbs file but TestComplete fails to see the function. The function works when it is included in the TC script. I feel I've missed something obvious, but what? Local script: sub Main() dim strDay, strWeek Set ws = Sys.OleObject("WScript.Shell") ws.Run("C:\string_functions.vbs") strWeek = "Sun,Mon,Tues,Wed,Thus,Fri,Sat" 'local function strDay = ChooseStr(strWeek, 3 ) Log.Message ("Day using function ChooseStr = " + strDay) 'external function strDay = StrChoose(strWeek, 3) Log.Message ("Day using external function StrChoose = " + strDay) end sub Function ChooseStr(ByVal sCSV, ByVal nIndex) Dim values values = Split(sCSV,",") ChooseStr = values(nIndex) End Function External file ("C:\string_functions.vbs") Option Explicit Function StrChoose(ByVal sCSV, ByVal nIndex) Dim values values = Split( sCSV,",") StrChoose = values(nIndex) End Function2.6KViews0likes2Comments
